Monitoring and Progress

To address and intervene in the causes that have generated the ecosystem crisis in the Mar Menor , the MAPMM is structured around 10 lines of action to be carried out in the Mar Menor and its watershed. These comprehensive measures focus on 4 key areas:

• Understanding: Conducting research and measurements (for example: water quality or the presence of heavy metals). Also, monitoring the state and evolution of the Mar Menor, creating models, and integrating all the information obtained.
• Control: Monitor and inspect the Public Hydraulic and Maritime Terrestrial Domain to ensure compliance with regulations, protection of the Mar Menor and Mediterranean shoreline, and promotion of regulations of special relevance for the recovery of the Mar Menor.
• Intervention: Restore ecosystems and renaturalize the land, prevent flooding, conserve biodiversity, and promote the transition of productive sectors. All of this prioritizing nature-based solutions and addressing the root causes of the imbalance in the Mar Menor.
• Inform and involve: Encourage active participation through information and communication.
