The Cartagena City Council cannot shift its responsibility for urban planning to the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) because it has the tools to act in La Manga.

The Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) expresses its concern and considers it unfortunate that the Cartagena City Council is attempting to shift its responsibilities in urban planning matters to the State Administration, since it is the regional and local administrations that have exclusive powers and, therefore, could act to prevent the urban transformation of the little free space that remains in the La Manga area and the southern coast of the Mar Menor.
