Grants for environmental restoration and improvement in the agricultural sector
The Biodiversity Foundation has awarded €16.2 million through a grant program for 11 projects related to environmental restoration and improvement in the agricultural area of the Mar Menor watershed. The competitive grant program was finalized in January 2024.
The projects receiving funding are geared towards the agroecological transition, nature-based systems (NBS), and protocols or new techniques to be applied to crops. They all involve work on a total area of 1,110 hectares within the Mar Menor watershed, across 8 municipalities.

Ten of the awarded projects are currently underway. The Cartagena City Council has withdrawn its project.
