MITECO highlights the development of the MAPMM in the Mar Menor Council

The Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) presents the agreement with the University of Murcia (UMU) and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) to promote the monitoring system for the recovery of the Mar Menor.

Laura Martín Murillo, Commissioner for the Water Cycle and Ecosystem Restoration at MITECO, highlighted the development of the Framework of Priority Actions to Recover the Mar Menor (MAPMM) at a new meeting of the Mar Menor Council.

The Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge has financed the renewal of sanitation and water purification networks in 8 municipalities of the basin with 40 million euros.

In addition, it has allocated 27 million euros to the transition towards sustainable models in the agricultural and livestock sectors in the watershed.

Finally, it improves flood management in the watershed: mining ravines, Cobatillas, San Pedro del Pinatar, Los Alcázares Floodable Park.
