This large complex, covering 37.52 hectares and containing 570,000 cubic meters, is divided into eight zones between the Rambla del Miedo and Rambla de Las Matildes ravines. The Descargador I and II reservoirs are of particular note; their treatment consists of in-situ encapsulation due to their high level of contamination and risk of landslides. The remaining reservoirs will receive either phytostabilization or liming treatment, depending on their composition.

→ Latest developments

The project has been underway since January 2025, with the topographic remodeling work now complete:

• Discharger I: The main tank is halfway through the sealing phase, with the clay layer complete.
• Unloading Dock II: The two main tanks are completely sealed down to the topsoil layer and will be subject to partial acceptance in July 2026.

• The remaining works are at an advanced stage of completion (channeling of ravines, perimeter roads, etc.)

Sancti Spiritu Colubial

Located within the Sancti Spiritu complex, in the colluvial zone, this project encompasses work on an area of approximately 3.3 hectares. Its ultimate goal is to protect the first spillway (Discharge I) from potential landslides and to correct the hydrology of the Las Matildes ravine. Simultaneously, the project aims to remediate areas containing mining waste near the former La Belleza mine. The works consist of constructing two gabion dams, a stone retaining wall, 35 wooden retaining walls, and building an access road to the La Belleza washing plant.

→ Milestones achieved

The hydraulic engineering works for the main and secondary ravines (gabium dams, stone and wood retaining walls), the partial sealing of the La Belleza washing area, the plantings in the main ravine and the La Belleza area, and the access road have been completed.

→ Latest developments

• The project, which began in January 2026, was completed in July. Supplemental irrigation is being carried out to maintain the plantations.
• Pending the start of the service contract which includes the conservation and restoration of the properties and works carried out, and the execution of the environmental monitoring after the works.
