GREEN FILTERS

Set of green filter and semi-natural wetlands projects in the Mar Menor area

The green filters are created with the main objective of reducing the nitrate content of the water that reaches the Mar Menor through the discharge of groundwater and, with this, contributing to the improvement of the quality of the water that reaches the lagoon and the ecological improvement of its habitats.

→ Milestones achieved:

The basic projects were jointly submitted to EIAo. The "El Mirador" green filter has been discarded due to uncertainty regarding the fate of the circuit's water, administrative complexities related to the location, and its lesser contribution to the project's objectives.

→ Latest developments:

The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is pending, with alternative disposal methods yet to be defined for two of the four projects. Simultaneously, the four construction projects are being drafted.
