Of the 52 approved projects, one will not be implemented due to processing difficulties. The remaining 51 projects have already been completed and their costs justified.
New grant program for complementary sanitation and wastewater treatment measures
The actions carried out by the municipalities with the subsidies obtained for sanitation and wastewater treatment through Royal Decree 730/2022 have contributed to reducing the discharge of pollutants and nutrients into the lagoon. To ensure the continued funding and implementation of these actions and further contribute to the improvement of the Mar Menor, a new subsidy of €20 million will be granted to the same municipalities, prioritizing the separation of stormwater and sustainable drainage systems.
→ Milestones achieved
In December 2025, the transfer to the municipalities was carried out, following the approval of the subsidies by the Council of Ministers (25/11/2025), their subsequent publication in the BOE (28/11/2025) and the authorization and commitment of the expenditure by the Secretary of State for the Environment (16/12/2025).
